5 reasons ION Orchard’s Food Tour is worth clearing your schedule for

Shopping is not the only activity on Orchard Road. The moment I got wind that ION Orchard was running its Your Table Awaits campaign — read: food fest to welcome the FIFA World Cup 2026 season, on now through July 31, 2026 — my evening was instantly freed up. I made a beeline for the place, ensuring I went on an empty stomach.

First stop was Jumbo Seafood on Level 4, and the next four hours I went from dim sum to ramen to dinner on a rooftop 55 floors up. Here goes.

1. Jumbo Afternoon High Tea turns signature dishes into bite-sized form

Jumbo Seafood’s Afternoon High Tea is available every day from 3.00 to 4.45pm. It is a 12-item spread of sweet and savoury bites that doubles as a highlight reel of Jumbo’s usual menu favourites, just scaled down into high tea form.

What stood out for me: sotong kia (served nice and crisp in a small cup), the abalone on top of glutinous rice (because when does abalone not stand out), the hargow (rich and plump prawn inside), and an unexpectedly brilliant chilli crab on bread. Somehow, they managed to take Jumbo’s signature sauce and turn it into a canapé. The whole thing wrapped up on a sweet note with mango pomelo sago, which was the perfect palate cleanser before round two.

This can be acquired by members of ION+ Rewards at a specially set price of S$49 per person (minimum two diners, instead of the usual S$59 per pax). There’s also a “1 Dines Free with Every 3 Paying Guests until September 30,” which makes good value when one is going in a small group.

2. Marutama Ramen’s ION Orchard exclusives aren’t available elsewhere

From seafood to noodles. Marutama Ramen, one of the pioneers of chicken-based ramen in Singapore, had two ION Orchard exclusives for us: the Sizzling Stone Bowl Chicken Paitan Tsukemen and the Sizzling Stone Bowl Dandan Tsukemen.

I tried both. The non-spicy chicken paitan version was really, really good — a squeeze of lemon juice into the chicken soup, finished with yuzu pepper. For those who don’t know, tsukemen means the noodles come separate, for dipping into the soup rather than swimming in it, and it totally changes the eating experience. Every mouthful stays at peak temperature and texture. The dandan version was spicy with nuts and mala powder, but not too spicy, just a warm tingle.

The gyoza was pretty good and I understand why it’s considered one of their signatures. The stewed pork, however, was what really caught me off guard. It was tender and a texture that would make you think it was a good kongba (Taiwanese braised pork). Definitely worth ordering by itself. The soup is refillable, not the best thing in and of itself, as that chicken base, rich, clean, and just plain good, is what Marutama is all about.

Rewards Members can get one free topping when they spend at least S$20, or a free topping and 10% off with a minimum spend of S$30, both deals expiring on July 31.

3. FIRE by 1-Atico delivers a totally different experience 55 floors up

The night ended the way every great food tour should, 55 storeys up, with the city laid out beneath us. FIRE at 1-Atico is where Argentinian-leaning fare meets a sunset view. We had come for the Communal Lunch Set — tasting portions from up and down the menu, along with a cocktail or mocktail.

The first bites were pan de chapata and pan de campo, which were warm and soft, with braised lentils and chimichurri butter to die for. Then came the snacks: cannoli of king salmon gravadlax, a smoked duck tartlet and heirloom tomatoes with mozzarella — refreshing, salty-tangy little bites. They did exactly what a starter should do and woke up the appetite.

This was followed by my first run-in with Argentinian stew for real: beef, chorizo, bacon, pumpkin, and adzuki beans, all tied together with a chilli oil. I had never eaten Argentinian food before this. What a delightful start!

For mains, we sampled across the board: chicken milanesa a la napolitana, sea bass, gnocchi with forest mushroom, and the ribeye. The chicken was topped with provolone and tangy tomato sauce; sea bass came with a sweet basil oil; and gnocchi was chewy and mushroomy with a cheese crisp on top for texture. Of course, the striploin stole the show – cooked medium to medium-rare with just the right amount of chew you want from a great steak but still mouth-wateringly juicy.

Desserts included panna cotta with espresso and dulce de leche, a sure winner for me, as I’m a fan of coffee-flavoured desserts, and light, buttery chocolate alfajores that are a really sweet note to end the meal.

At S$68++ per person, with a 20% discount for ION+ Rewards Members, this is an incredible deal. And if you’re still in two minds about it, just top up S$20 for the striploin. It’s worth every cent.

4. ION+ Rewards savings keep showing up at every stop

Whether at Jumbo, Marutama, or FIRE, ION+ Rewards members get a price perk every time — from set-menu discounts to free toppings to percentage off the bill. Sign up as an ION⁺ Rewards Member for free today via their mobile app.

5. One building covers three completely different food experiences

From high tea to ramen to fine dining 55 floors above — that was a pretty cool way to see how far ION Orchard’s food game stretches in one building. Local treats and fine dining a few floors apart and just a couple of hours later.

Heading down to ION Orchard before July 31, 2026? The privileges of the Your Table Awaits campaign are worth checking out across all three of these spots — and maybe a few more I didn’t get to. Go hungry.

This food tour was part of ION Orchard’s “Your Table Awaits” culinary campaign, running till July 31, 2026. Terms and conditions apply — visit ionorchard.com for full details.
