Barely there, perfectly clear and landing in Singapore on July 24, 2026 – the Huawei FreeClip 2 S has quite a few reasons going for it.
Start with the case. It’s shaped and finished like a jewellery box rather than a gadget box and comes in Deepsea Blue or Space Silver, both put through 22 precision paint-mixing and spraying processes to get that glossy, luminous finish. It honestly looks pretty stylish and is the kind of case you’d happily leave out on a table rather than hide in your bag. I got a chance to hold one myself, and it does have a semi-premium feel to it in the hand.

The earbuds themselves keep that “barely-there” feel the FreeClip line is known for, weighing just 5.1g each and made from skin-friendly liquid silicone that’s 25% softer than before. The open-ear clip design sits on the ear rather than in it, and the glowing Airy C-bridge is a nice little detail that catches the eye.
Specification-wise, there is a third-generation Huawei audio chip and an NPU AI processor that’s driving the upgraded adaptive volume algorithm. It utilises bidirectional environment sensing to adjust automatically according to your environment. There is also adaptive voice enhancement for clearer calls and audiobooks, three adjustable sensitivity levels, and a dual-diaphragm driver for a richer, more balanced sound with unlimited spatial audio thrown in. Do note that adaptive volume is still a trial feature, switched off by default, and needs to be enabled through Huawei Audio Connect under Experimental Features.
On the practical side, cross-OS connection means switching between devices without the usual re-pairing hassle, and IP57 water resistance means rain, sweat and gym sessions aren’t a concern.
I haven’t tried a pair myself yet, but I’ve owned a similar-style earbuds and it’s pretty comfortable for everyday use. My one hesitation is the audio leak that this style of open-ear earphone tends to have but I guess it’s a trade-off that comes with the design, so it’s worth bearing in mind if you’re often in quiet spaces or sitting close to others!
