Vitality Chiropractic has just released a book entitled Dealing with Dizziness: Holistic Solutions for Unexplained Chronic Dizziness, Vertigo, and Balance Problems, written by its founder, Dr Shaan Rai.
This is the first book in Singapore dedicated to understanding and managing chronic dizziness and balance disorders — issues that affect more people than most realise. Many of the case studies in the book come from patients Dr Rai has treated right here in Singapore.
About 1.2 million people in Singapore suffer from chronic dizziness, yet as many as 70 percent of those seeking help often are unable to attain a clear diagnosis because their test results are considered normal.
I had the privilege of attending the book launch, where Dr Rai spoke about the years of research and more than 5,000 patient experiences that inspired him to write the book. Many of the case studies in the book came from patients Dr Rai has treated in Singapore.
One of the highlights of this book is Dr Rai’s introduction of a new diagnostic framework, Chronic Vestibular Spectrum Disorder (CVSD). This framework strives to help healthcare providers take a more holistic look at chronic dizziness, beyond the usual tests that often leave patients stuck without clear answers.
The book also aims to educate both healthcare professionals and the general public. It breaks down key terms (ever confused by the terms dizziness, vertigo and giddiness?), clears up common misconceptions, explains simple anatomy, walks through common conditions and treatments, and most importantly, provides that glimmer of hope for anyone living with chronic dizziness.

During the launch, Dr Rai also demonstrated chiropractic techniques using nerve scans and common consultation techniques, explaining the importance of objective changes in scans to measure treatment effectiveness for his patients.
Available globally on Amazon.com now, the book is offered in Kindle (S$6.32), paperback (S$22.79), and hardcover (S$49.40) editions.
