We recently visited Oasis Hideout – a neat café – tucked well-within the Singapore Polytechnic Graduates’ Guild (SPGG). Known for its mix of Western and Asian cuisine, and highly inspired by hawker traditions, this eatery offers a relaxed and comforting dining experience with poolside surroundings.
We ordered a couple of items that evening, each with its own twist:
Chilli Crab Pasta (S$19.90)

This was the highlight of the meal hands-down. The pasta was smothered in tomato-based chilli crab sauce with a nice amount of kick from the chilli. I appreciated how each strand of pasta was coated, so every bite is full of flavour but not overwhelming. The dish was also served with a decent amount of soft shell crab on the side so unlike eating the regular chilli crab dish, we didn’t have to get our hands dirty. My Thai friend especially loved this dish, praising its balance of spiciness and saltiness.
Signature Chicken Chop (S$11.90)

The boneless grilled chicken thigh came juicy and tender, served with rich brown gravy together with greens and corn ribs. While fries are the norm, the corn ribs were a delightful surprise — sweet, salty and highly satisfying. The ribs complemented the chicken beautifully and turned a common dish chicken chop dish into one worth remembering. I guess the chef’s recommendation was on the menu for a reason!
Pizza de Funghi

Handmade thin-crust pizza smothered with mushrooms, this was a great sharing option. Light in taste but hearty, the mushrooms added earthiness without being over seasoned to the point of overpowering. The little cheese pull was an added delight, and the tomato base ensured that the pizza did not become too rich. A great side to have on top of the mains.
Final Thoughts

I like how dining at Oasis Hideout felt like a great midweek escape. Being surrounded by people swimming and playing sports nearby, it gave a very comfortable, relaxing vibe. The restaurant’s alfresco dining provided a cosy space for unwinding after a long day. Do check out their deals for staff and students, they seem to have quite a number of promotions. For the public, fret not, the prices here are wallet-friendly and definitely a spot worth checking out if you’re in the area. Ample paid parking is also available at SPGG. Personally, I would definitely return for the Chilli Crab pasta and to sample more of their Singapore-meets-West dishes.
