Celebrating Singapore’s heritage and social impact with Luzerne’s SG60 Diamond Collection

“Made with Passion” tableware brand Luzerne has deepened its legacy in Singapore with the SG60 Diamond Collection. Created and painted by Associate Professor Ng Woon Lam, this collection features one-of-a-kind plates and cups commemorating six significant nation-building milestones in Singapore.

All the plates, espresso cups, and saucers in the SG60 collection are unified by a warm sepia tone, creating a gentle sense of heritage and nostalgia throughout the range.

The SG60 Diamond Plate is a truly special piece: only sixty of these 50cm commemorative plates were produced, each one featuring a collage of national moments rendered in sepia. These plates are more than just decorative items—they are one-of-a-kind works of art that embody Singapore’s enduring resilience and collective spirit.

The collection also includes the SG60 Singapura Plates, which come in a 30cm size and are available in six different designs. For those who appreciate variety, the SG60 Singapura 6-Plate Set offers six 16cm plates, each with its own unique motif, yet all harmonised by the signature sepia palette.

Completing the collection is the SG60 Kopi Cup Set, a limited edition boxed set containing six espresso cups and matching saucers. Each cup is distinguished by a sepia illustration of a Singapore icon, with every cup representing a different decade of national milestones. The saucers, meanwhile, bring together all six designs in a single composition.

It’s interesting to note that a commemorative plate was also created ten years ago for SG50, with designs in colours signifying the long-standing commitment by Luzerne in contributing back to Singapore and the society.

Enabling Social Good and Community Support

More than 20 social service groups have expressed interest in obtaining Luzerne’s SG60 Diamond Plates for use in their own fundraising efforts, and Luzerne will be donating these plates to the selected organisations.

In addition, Luzerne is collaborating with Community Chest Singapore to launch an online fundraising campaign for 10 plates, and all the proceeds will be directed towards the President’s Challenge, The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund, Samaritans of Singapore, and Limitless Singapore. Donations for these plates start from S$2,688 per plate, and the top 10 donors will each get a serialised SG60 Diamond Plate, featured in a premium gift box with a specially created plate stand at the end of the fundraising campaign. Online fundraising for these VIP plates will be conducted on www.luzerne.com/sg60.

The SG60 Diamond Plate initiative is an expression of Luzerne’s focus on corporate social responsibility and concern for society, with youth and mental health in focus. Luzerne targets to raise S$600,000 through this project.

Strengthening Local Industry and Heritage

Having over 75 years of history under the ownership of Hiap Huat Holdings Pte Ltd, Luzerne has local craftsmanship and manufacturing with 800 individuals working at its main factory in China and headquarters. Luzerne’s products are distributed to over 66 countries with prominent names including Singapore Airlines and EVA Air.

The company has shifted its strategy from primarily contract manufacturing for other brands in the past to focusing primarily on its own brand now without giving up its top-tier customers.

Community and Leadership

The SG60 Diamond Collection launch, attended by MP and Mayor of Central Singapore Ms Denise Phua, brought together community leaders, artists, and supporters. Ms Phua emphasised the importance of acting together and the SG60 spirit that existed long before—it is not just a celebration of the past, but also a catalyst to propel future causes that matter.

Luzerne’s SG60 Diamond Collection is one of the ways that Singapore companies can integrate philanthropy, heritage, and innovation—upholding the country’s heritage while investing in its future.

Fun fact: ceramic plates over 50cm in size are technically challenging to make, which speaks volumes about the artistry behind the SG60 Diamond Plate.
