Protoype adidas shoes get you moving

Remember the shoes that light up and make children so happy? Well, adults may get their turn soon — only that this time, instead of movement, it’s sound that makes the shoes light up.

Chipmaker Infineon Technologies and sports shoemaker adidas have joined hands to develop the Lighting Shoe.

With high-end sensors in its soles, the adidas originals NMD S1 shoe senses music and beats from the environment and then reacts with different and programmable lighting effects. Microphones and microcontrollers convert the audio information into dynamic colorful LED effects on the shoe to get wearers moving to the groove.

The adidas originals NMD S1 provides the right fit for the sensors, with sufficient space to place the highly sensitive technology components inside without compromising comfort.

In the future, the sensors can also be tweaked to vibrate when sound or music is detected.

Before you get all excited, the Infineon Lighting Shoe is just a prototype at this point in time.
