Celebrate Singapore’s 58th birthday in style with the delectable and locally-inspired National Day menu by Canadian Pizza! This special set features a mouth-watering combination of Chicken Rice Pizza, Milo Churros, Milo Dinosaurs, and Otahs, bringing a unique twist to classic favourites.
Let’s start with the star of the show – honestly quite a fusion marvel – the Chicken Rice Pizza. The combination of dark sauce, cilantro, and succulent white chicken on a pizza base truly captures the essence of the beloved Singaporean dish. The chilli that came with it was amazing and added a kick to the pizza. I was surprised at how authentic it tasted, almost making me forget I was eating pizza and not the actual dish. The flavours definitely complemented each other – who would think that dark sauce and white chicken would work on a pizza? My sibling who doesn’t really appreciate pizza said that it was an awesome pizza!
Next up, the piping hot Milo Churros! Dusted with Milo powder, these crispy delights paired perfectly with the accompanying dips. The default condiment of condensed milk added a delightful touch, reminiscent of our usual Milo pairings – a match made in churro heaven I must say. Other sweeteners and toppings available include golden syrup, chocolate sauce and rainbow sprinkles!
Although I couldn’t try the Otah snack that came with the set, the team replaced it with two scrumptious Spicy Chicken Puffs. The light pastry and flavourful curry filling made me feel like I was savouring a true Singaporean delight – definitely a great local touch.
And let’s not forget the refreshing Milo Dinosaurs! Served chilled and topped with a rainbow sprinkles, it was a delight to the senses. However, I must warn you, this drink is a “gao” (thick). You may want to dilute it slightly with ice or cold water to find your perfect balance of “gao.”
I have to say, this media drop from Canadian Pizza was a delightful surprise that fully embraces the spirit of our nation. The local flavours and creative twists made it a perfect way to celebrate our country’s birthday. If you’re hosting a party or hanging out with family and friends this season, this set is a must-try!
